Waco Thunder Baseball is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that sets out to provide the youth of Central Texas with opportunities to be instructed and compete in an advanced, encouraging environment that upholds good choices, positive life skills, scholastic achievement, and community leadership each and every time a team steps foot on the diamond. Thunder Baseball is open to all players regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background.
We pride ourselves in being able to offer families of our community the ability to participate in a proven, successful organization at a very affordable rate. You won’t hear us tell you that this program is best for your child, or that his coach has played years of professional baseball and has even more years of coaching experience. In fact, none of our coaches have ever played pro baseball, but that hasn’t stopped us from accomplishing several of our goals over the five years:

In 2010, Waco Thunder partnered with Waco Storm Baseball to better enable all participants to learn proven MLB fundamentals, prepare for future success, continue development through athletic and character outlets. Waco Storm Baseball shares several of our beliefs including shunning the win-at-all-cost mentality and placing development first.
It is our belief that children in our target age groups (8-12) simply need someone who is very knowledgeable of baseball and who is willing to invest their time into our players. Our coaches do have vast experiences in and around the game, but our mission exists to help our players build a massive skyscraper of baseball talent. Like any other building, we start with a very solid foundation; honing in on the fundamentals of the game and creating a passion for the sport. The next step is to construct the first few floors; placing players in a competitive atmosphere where they can learn to play the game correctly, where aggressive mistakes are encouraged, and where in many years time they’ll have a positive place to look back to and reminisce about how fun the making of a baseball player was. After the foundation is laid and three or four floors have been complete, we turn our players over to the professionals who’ll then take the structure of a talented baseball player we’ve started and make it tall and unwavering with the ability to withstand collegiate and professional competition.
The philosophy that every Thunder team has ever had is very simple; if we continuously place kids in positions to succeed, if we invest our time in them in hopes of a reward that is much greater than just another plaque on the wall, and if we can make their time with us a memory that will be much more than a nostalgic recollection of the past, then it is not a matter of will we succeed; it’s just a matter of when.
