What all does our affiliation with Waco Storm Baseball consist of? TOP
In 2010, Waco Thunder Baseball partnered with the Waco Storm to better enable both organizations to positively impact the youth of the Central Texas community. Thunder Baseball and Storm Baseball will be stronger working together as opposed to working apart. "Two heads are better than one." We can collaborate together to ensure that players are getting the very best at practices and games, as well as other unique opportunities such as roving instruction, clinics, mental performance coaching, and much more.
This affiliation does not mean that all Thunder players will play for the Storm in the future as Waco Storm Baseball will continue to have open tryouts at all age groups, and participation in Thunder is not a prerequisite.
This relationship has enabled Waco Thunder Baseball and Waco Storm Baseball to become one of the few youth organizations in the country that offer valuable services to kids from coach pitch to high school showcase levels.
How often do we have tryouts? TOP
Each year Thunder teams conduct two tryouts. Tryouts are held at the begining of each fiscal year in August and before the spring/summer season in January. Each team reserves the right to hold additional tryouts based on any extenuating circumstances (injury, sickness, etc.) or hold tryouts on an invitational basis. Feel free to contact a director to learn of any age-specific opportunties.
What is the cost to play? TOP
We strongly believe that youth baseball at a competitive level should be affordable for all families. The cost to play for any Thunder team is very minimal and covers operational fees; you pay what it costs to play. Expenditures include uniforms, tournament fees (split equally amongst team members), equipment costs, and other miscellaneous fees through tournament entities. Prices vary between teams due to the different number of tournaments that are played.
How often do we play? TOP
On average, Thunder teams play 2-3 tournaments per month during the spring season and 1-2 tournaments per month during the fall. Each team varies due to other potential sports players participate in, and the availability of our volunteer coaches.
How can I become a sponsor? TOP
If you would like to become a supporter of Waco Thunder Baseball, please contact Dustin Johnson for more information on different levels of sponsorship, benefits of being a Thunder sponsor, and the demographics regarding our organization. Do our teams travel? If so, how much? TOP
Waco Thunder Baseball was built upon the idea that to become the best, we must play the best. Thunder teams are strongly encouraged to travel to surrounding areas on regular basis. Different regions of Texas offer various learning experiences for our players, and weekend trips to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, Round Rock/Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas have definately proven to be beneficial when our teams are afforded the opportunity to stay close to home in the Central Texas community to play. As our coaches are also parents, we understand that traveling costs can quickly add up and because of that Thunder teams will always try to play tournaments in the Waco area provided that those tournaments will provide our players with the desired experience of growing as baseball player.
